The Girls Advocacy Alliance (GAA) project focus on Child Trafficking and Migration (CTM) and Commercial Sexual exploitation of Children (CSEC) in Africa region with specific reference to three member states; Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Whereas Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia seemingly have adequate Child Protection legislation, GAA seeks to further engage member states to allocate adequate budgets for effective implementation of the laws. This will be done through regional bodies such as the East African Community (EAC), African Union (AU), African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Outcomes

1. Improved monitoring and accountability mechanisms and practices by regional and sub-regional bodies, EAC /EALA, IGAD, and ACERWC on CTM and CSEC of girls and young women by 2019.
2. The AU and EAC Regional and sub-regional policies on (e.g. Kampala declaration, Trafficking of person’s bill (2009), IGAD Migration Protocol on cross border issues of CTM and CSEC mainstream girls and women rights by 2019.
3. Regional and sub-regional CSOs will effectively connect and build the capacity of their counterparts in influencing national and regional policies by the end of 2019.
